His and her coats: Some people thought Rose was actually male due to her luxurious mane, but she’s all lioness. Her Warsaw Zoo enclosure mate Dukat (left) is even hairer and most definitely a guy.
Maneless males do exist, and females can grow something of a mane (like Rose) during menopause due to the hormonal changes that occur.
